Hi, my name is Sandy McCutcheon and I have been the School Counselor at Ketterlinus since 2013.  My background in education spans from elementary to college.   I am a former Kindergarten teacher in  St. Johns County and prior to that, I was a Counselor and  Adjunct Instructor at the University of North Florida.  I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Flagler College, Master’s degree in Counselor Education from the University of North Florida and I am a National Board Certified Teacher.

WHAT DO SCHOOL COUNSELORS DO?

“Elementary school years set the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes and skill necessary for children to be healthy, competent and confident learners. Through a comprehensive developmental school counseling program, counselors work as a team with the school staff, parents and the community to create a caring climate and atmosphere. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, school counselors can help children achieve academic success.”

WE’RE A TEAM!
STUDENT + PARENTS + TEACHERS + SUPPORT SERVICES = SUCCESS!!

It is vital that we all work together as a team to help your child obtain skills to become a successful student and responsible citizen. If there are things happening in your family that will help us understand your child, please give me a call, email, or drop by my office when you are at school. Parenting your child is the most important job you will ever have! Even the best, most loving parents sometimes feel overwhelmed and frustrated when their child has academic, social, or behavioral problems. Before you reach your ‘last straw’, please consider sharing your concerns / frustration. No, I don’t always have the answers, but I have lots of tissues, and I am ready to help you identify and explore possible solutions and alternatives.
