Coffee with A Cop – Building Relationships. One Cup at a Time. Parents, please join us and our local St. Augustine Police Officers for coffee and conversation on the front porch of KES this Wednesday, October 4, 7:55-8:30 a.m. Feel free to have your student make our officers a “Thank You” note and send into your teacher or front office so we can hand them out during this time. Due to time and space constraints, please have your student wave hello and head into class. We hope you can join us!

AR Goals – Readers are Leaders at KES! Please encourage your child to meet their AR goal for the First Quarter by reading every night for 20 minutes. Deadline is October 13. Gentle reminder that AR tests can be taken at home.
PTO News – KES families, just a reminder, the PTO will be meeting this Tuesday, October 3, at 7:55 am in the KES Media Center. Attendees must have a School Access form on file and sign in at the front office so plan to arrive a few minutes early. The 2023-2024 Fill the Fence campaign is still open. This is a great way for your business to get their name out to local families and show their support for our wonderful school! Intake Conferences are beginning this week through Oct. 5th. Please sign up for these meetings so that you can review your child’s current academic performances and the Title 1 learning compact.

Another possible responsibility of this group could be to assist with planning and implementing school-wide reading initiatives that would help maintain a positive reading culture. This group will meet 2-3 times throughout the year, depending on the need. Members will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis. If interested, please contact Kim Hinman at [email protected].
School Advisory Council (SAC) – We are in need of SAC members. This group helps to advise our school on ways to improve. The SAC interest form was sent home last week. Library Restriction Form – Parents may utilize this form to restrict titles their child may check out in the school library. Please complete the form and return to your child’s teacher or librarian. This form is only required when a parent is seeking to restrict access to materials in the Media Center. Library Book Access Form

Housekeeping – Gentle Reminders
- Check-out Policy – We do not permit early checkout after 2:15pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday and after 1:15pm on Wednesday. We are preparing to dismiss our students, and teachers are finishing academic instruction for the day. Thank you for understanding!
- Dismissal Changes – Parents/guardians, to ensure safe dismissal and avoid classroom interruptions, please be sure to note dismissal changes in your student’s planner. In the event of an emergency dismissal change, you may call the office by 2:15pm. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and by 1:15pm. on Wednesdays to provide our staff with the pertinent information.
- Tardiness – School opens at 7:55am. Students are tardy if not in their classroom by 8:25am. If a student arrives after 8:25am their parent/guardian must walk inside the front office to sign them in.
- Label Items – Please label all your child’s belongings so that we can return items to them when lost.
- Home Access Center (HAC) – Please be sure to utilize this for reviewing your child’s report cards and monitoring their progress throughout the year.
- Car Tags – Car tags must be displayed on your rearview mirror when picking up your child in Parent Pick-Up. This helps the staff to identify you as someone who is allowed to pick up your student and gives staff the opportunity to radio ahead so that your child is ready at the curb for pick-up. In addition, to avoid being towed, please make sure you display your car tag when parked in our school parking lot. Parents/Guardians, you may purchase additional car tags for $2 (cash only) in the front office. I.D. must be presented when purchasing.
